Hey matey.

That sounds like pretty much the same thing....

It was running fine one evening playing internet radio, when it just
turned off.

It didn't seem to want to turn back on either, and after enough tries,
when it did turn back on, often it would only get so far into the
boot-up before turning itself off again.

Also, the optical drive had been behaving very sluggishly lately, -
opening & closing the drawer was very slow & strained, and very hit
&
miss as to whether or not it would operate the drawer at all... (not
sure if this is related)

I think this had also cause a corruption on the HDD as well, just for
good measure...

Mine is doing a weird thing which I assume is a PSU problem too...

If you plug it into the mains and try the power button nothing happens.
If
you leave it for about 15 minutes it suddenly works?
