A wee bit expensive, and not really containment but in the spirit of
UKHA_D
(Just in case that pesky Dog manages to dig it's way out of your Garden and
obook itself onto an international flight.....)

The best option is to get a Cat yourself (preferably a big neutered male)
;-)
The next best thing is a SuperSoaker style water pistol - They hate both
the water and the hissing noise it makes
The automated approach is one of these http://www.smarthome.com/6120.html
again the sound and water soon get them walking around instead of through
Once the cat(s) have established a new route they usually stick to it, so
you shouldn't don't need to do this for much longer than a month or so
I've also been informed that you can buy dried 'Tiger Sh*t' and that cats
run a mile
(Probably don't want to meet with the 12ft long Ginger Tom that left it
there!)
I've not seen this or tried asking for it at the local Garden centre though
:-S

Nope, but would love something similar to keeps cats out - they
are playing
havoc with SWMBO's garden!
