Not an expert, but can't colour printers do transparencies - we
certainly
used to do them at university like that for presentations.

The transparencies come with a white backing you peel off.

That sounds rather like an OHP transparency? The printer is wanting a
press ready high res film which is just a little different!

Friend of mine want's a hand in getting some photo's taken and blown up to
100cm x 160cm for advertising purposes!

He's found a printer to do it but the printer wants the source material on
4" x 3" transparencies - Any ideas how to get a high res digital
image
transferred to a 4" x 3 " transparency? I've googled away but can
find
nothing:-(

Any pointers\suggestions welcomed!

Suggestion: tell him to find a different printer. Any decent printer
should either be able to produce the press ready artwork from any
current source media or at *least* be able to tell your friend exactly
where to go to get it done.

Ideally he should goto a graphics bureau as they specialise in taking
material and preparing press ready artwork. On the other hand, if he
only wants a small number of prints, has he considered finding a bureau
or graphics house that has a large format inkjet? Ideal for a small
number, completely useless if he wants a few hundred or more.
