I'd imagine you need a much higher resolution transparency than you
can realistically print on an inkjet. That 4x3" tranny is going to be
enlarged about 16x - so to print your posters at even 150dpi, you need
the source to be 2400dpi - and that's real dots, none of this
"interpolated, smoothed out, honest it really is a dot" stuff
that
most modern printers use to bump the specs up...
