Re: [OT] Water Conditioners...

I've just been toiling over this one myself.

I found out i live in a hard water area because of 3 things. Scale in bath
&
Shower. Scale and white sludge in kettle even after a couple of uses, and
3rdly, i checked the water companies web site, which gave a hardness grade.

I was thinking of getting a softner (the type you fill with salt) but then
after recommendation to get an electronic conditioner, and vague writings
on
the internet saying they might work for some people, I took the plunge and
got a reasonably good one for 40 pounds.

I couldn't wire it next to the washing machine as I'd hoped, so I wired it
at the mains entry point.

Does it work? Well it might do something, but nowhere near enough. The only
improvement i've noticed is if i boil water in a saucepan from a tap, the
debris left behind is slightly less. But that might be a variation in the
quality of the water?

So i think i'll be getting rid of the waterconditioner, and getting a
proper
ion exchange softner eventually.

40 pounds wasted..... I wouldn't recommend you do the same!
