As I understood it (although they do seem to change the routines regularly)
A .uk address will get picked up by the "UK" button, as will any
other
extension hosted on a UK based server, if you have a UK targeted site using
a non .UK extension hosted on a non UK IP address, then the UK Local filter
on Google won't find you.
Other engines seem to be similar, I have a site that get's 1st position on
it's keyword via the msn.com search engine yet it features very very low on
the msn.co.uk engine.
