I'm using a CM Stacker case, 2x SiL3114 SATA cards, and 8x SATA HDs. Four
of the drives are a 1.2TB raid 0 that just holds backups of other
machines, and the other four are a 750GB raid 5 array.
I'm running Ubuntu Linux and have the drives managed by software raid
(mdadm)
Works a treat!
Whatever solution you go for, make sure the drives are kept cool.
