Re: Help on Java on a Pocket PC

David

I'm using Dell Axim X30's (have 2 at present). They are both the
624Mhz top spec versions (802.11b for wireless though - not sure if
there is a 'g' version in PPCs).

iVista is running on a 2.9GHz Celeron based Dell Dimension 3000 system
with 1Gig og memory. This machine is actially the HA server so its
doing other stuff too.

The image size is 220x165 on the ppc with about 55% compression (set
in iVista). Max frame rate is set to 10.

In practice I seem to get 4-5 fps on the ppc. Curiously, this doesn't
drop much with 3 clients running (2 PPCs and a normal PC). iVista
reports something like 85kbps

Quality and refresh rate is fine to see who's at the door. Quite wierd
to be ably to wander outside with the PPC and watch yourself!

Family likes this a lot. We can also pull up the CCTV on the house TVs
as it's also hooked into a loftbox via a modulator. Usually use a PIP
with the cctv channel permanently tuned into the second channel.
However, the PPC is easier when the TV is off (yes, that does happen!).

Regards

RIchard
