remember this is only a transport protocol,  you still need a storage
server
(target) to use as the disk.  This provides the space the the client
(initiator).  The target will need to provide the underlying disk storage
space so ultimatley you are limited by underlying technology....  however,
saying that,  if you use some clever RAID technologies etc you can get
amazing through put.  I can easily get 500Mb/s read for a single LUN....
