Re: [OT] Alternative to MCE?
You should just try them and see what you prefer - they're all free.
When I got to Media Portal and found it could stream a video_ts folder
from a network share as if it were a real disk in a drive, that swung
it. Just rip and copy to the server - no messing around with
compression and the associated loss of menu, chapters or surround sound.
So it takes a bit (lot!) more disk space - but with "vertical"
hard
drives on their way, 2Tb disks for <£100 will be with us before you know
it (although I'm sure Phil won't be able to resist building himself a
1Pb array!)
