Well, I have a couple of Iiyama VM Pro 450s (19") and one of mine has
started doing it too over the last few weeks :(

PS mine doesn't go 'pfsst'.
PPS Hmm. Glad you posted - made me think.... I'm going to swap the
monitors at the VGA card to see if the same monitor does it or if it's
the card that's at fault...
