Question about amplifiers in shed

Hi,
I have run a pair of speaker wires from our whole house audio setup out to
my shed. I was wondering if it was possible to re-amplify the signal in the
shed ready for use in the garden ? I have never seen this done and have no
idea if its possible - is it simply a matter of wiring them into a cheapo
stereo amp ?
