That couldbe because Xantech use a totally unconventional pin assignment

r
3.5mm jacks.

Where as most people use the sleeve of the plug for GROUND, Xantech use it
for +12V!

This almost always will result in revese polarity being applied to whatever
gets connected to a Xantech unit giving the kids of results you have
obviously experienced :-(
