I think they could be self-installed - he got a pro to do it (which was a
good idea I think - he had to drill a biggish hole through the wall with a
diamond core drill and he used really funky trunking on the outside (which
wasn't supplied).  he also recommended brazing the pipes rather than
screwing them - as it would prevent loss of the refrigerant - as well as
suggesting a few good ideas etc. Worth the £300 he charged IMHO. The Air
Con
man was pretty impressed - he said they had similar units available for
£900!

I will investigate the BB potential, but not until after my holiday to La
Bell France which begins in 2.5 hours
