A fairly distributed system...

Backend: The £99 Dell machine mentioned on here a few weeks ago with a
PVR350 (should be a 250). 97% idle
File store: AMD 1200 with 256Mb RAM + 6x250Gb SATA drives (1.2Tb)
Frontend: Antec minuet with diskless AMD 1800 (cheapest I could find).
256Mb, onboard sound+video+LAN. Diskless
Frontend2: very similar but not diskless (yet)

Performance is fine.

One big lesson: Don't use VIA based motherboards with Hauppage cards.
