Background automated CD ripping/playing

I am hoping there is some software out there that on the face of it is a
normal
looking CD player application, but will rip the disc in the player to wav
files
in the background while playing.

I want to put a mini-itx board in an old CD player with an IDE cdrom etc so
it
looks like a normal CD player, but in actuality its ripping any disc put
thru it
to either a HDD in it or a network share.

Otherwise I may just have to write something myself (once I figure out how
to)
