Assuming this is a consumer transaction (ie not in the name of a
business), then they can't charge a restocking fee under the Distance
Selling Regulations. You may have to pay the return shipping, but
that's all. Even if opened, the retailer is obliged to take the goods
back (except for;
- goods made to the customer's specification;
- perishable goods (flowers, fresh food);
- CD, DVD, and tapes with software, audio or video if unsealed;
- newspapers and magazines;
- betting, gaming and lotteries
