SCART 9 v 21 way

Hi,

I am about to connect up some SCART face plates to cable that has been
buried in the wall and just wondered what the best practice is as far
as connecting all 21 ways as opposed to 9 might be.

The cable is a 21 way multi shield affair I got from Maplin so I can
cable as much or as little as needed. The cable well feed signals
from a DVD via a Freeview to a LCD. I know the pin outs and I also
know about the crossovers in standard Equipement->TV SCART cables but
I am not sure if it is better to wire all 21 ways or not - it seems
that some schools of thought suggest not wiring the pins 10 & 12 as
this can conflict with some bits of kit.

I am also wondering about earthing. As I say the cable is 21 way
which means there is a wire available for connection to pin 21 however
I understand you would normally wire the cable shield to this. In the
case of a 21 way cable would you wire both the cable shield and the
21st wire to pin 21?

As an aside - where is the best place to go to get reels of cut a/v
cables like SCART?

Many thanks

Jez
