I=92ve been meaning to post this for a while and the new beta version has
s=
purred me on=85

I=92ve been running James=92s xAP Switchboard for a while now and testing
i=
t out/asking for additions etc. It doesn=92t happen very often but this is
=
one of those =91must have=92 HA applications that soon became a major part
=
of my HA setup.

As Mark just posted, you can find out more here:

http://www.automatedhome.co.uk/article1562.html

To give you a quick idea of what it=92s all about, I=92ll describe how it
w=
orks in my house:

Someone rings my home or business phone and through the whole house
speaker=
s a voice announces =93Incoming home call from Simon Brown at work=94. At
t=
he same time, a popup xAP Desktop message appears on my desktop PC=92s
givi=
ng the same information and the Outlook contact window for this contact
ope=
ns. The notes field is populated with the time, date and duration of the
ca=
ll and allows you to add any notes relevant to this call.

In the background, xAP SwitchBoard seamlessly synchronises full contact
inf=
ormation between the xAP SB database and the outlook contact list
including=
full address information.

Later on, I decide that I want to view who has called so I open a browser
w=
indow and load the xAP SB web page. This shows me a list of incoming and
ou=
tgoing calls complete with name, company, STD area and duration. Clicking
o=
n the world symbol displays a map pinpointing the caller=92s location (or
i=
f no address information held, shows a map of the area based on STD code).
