Ugly thing.. ;-)  I think I have heard of it. I think it was called a=20
"current thief" or something here in Sweden and was quite common
in the=20
50-th. Probably marked "Made in Great Britain".

In Sweden we have three phase in to every house and distribute this even=20
over the phases in the house or apartment. How is even distribution=20
between phases solve in the UK? I guess you don't have even bigger fuses=20
out on the grid ;-). There must be three phase there I guess.  Phases=20
separated somewhere and feed to each house. I mean if one house uses a=20
lot of  power and  another feed from a different phase uses less.
