Ideas for Software to use?

Hi all

I have decided to try and build a digital picture frame from an old
Compaq laptop that I have lying around.

The hardware parts are not an issue. I can either use wireless LAN to
pic the pictures off the mac or copy pictures of the HD.

What is the issue is the software.

I would ideally like to be able to turn the machine on and for it to
boot and start displaying pictures ASAP without any cursers or user
intervention.

So what software should I be looking for?

Cheers

ben
