Oi, Tubby! Behave! ;-)

Because usually the minimum frequency that a VGA port has to accept is
31kHz
... Generally the "domestic" series plasmas seem to accept 15kHz
(or above)
up their VGA port whereas the "commercial" series plasmas seem to
accept
31kHz (or above).

Nope - there really is feck all difference between RGB and component for
quality.

To be absolutely honest you'll probably find that your biggest loss of
quality will be from the device rescaling the image to its native panel
resolution. I bought a 32" widescreen LCD TV about a fortnight ago
which -
apart from a fault which I'm waiting for the manufacturers to resolve -
gives a *SUPERB* picture when fed movies from a HTPC, however when fed
Digital Terestrial via TiVo or from a Thomson DHD4000 PVR via s-video it
looks pretty gash. DVD via s-video fares rather a lot better but when I can
get hold of a set of cables I need to have a play with component video and
RGB feeds to the back of the LCD.

I do still have one of David Anamudus Sweetspot cards here and when I can
get this ruddy HTPC to stop cooking itself silly I'll be intreagued to see
what *IT* makes of the job when used to scale the image for the panel
rather
than the panel doing it itself.
