RE: xPL FirM Serial

OK that helped - I thought by FirM serial you meant the PC Serial interface
like I have. I think I am being a bit slow here Frank so don't be too hard
on yourself :-)

So my question is could you take the FirM IR out directly into the USB UIRT
(by modifying the USB-UIRT) and bypass the optical bit. Maybe I am being a
little silly here but I just think the optical bit adds some
un-reliability.
On more thinking though I can't see why I really think that as long as it
is
out of direct sunlight.

Anyway - very interested in the progress because I have been thinking about
getting rid of the LIRC component for some time since it is quite demanding
on the PC and slow. Maybe this USB-UIRT idea is the caper.

Is the xPL stuff for the USB-UIRT and the FirM written in C - I could port
to Linux I guess (I assume the xPL stuff is running on a Windows PC at the
moment - or have I got that wrong as well :-) )

Cheers and thanks for sharing
Shane
