Here goes....

Take a look at the wiring diagram for a normal line at
http://www.diyha.co.uk/telephones/pots.html

Although I show 6 wires between sockets only 2,3 & 5 are needed.

These *SHOULD* be

2 BLUE/White
3 ORANGE/White
5 WHITE/Blue

These will connect to the telephone wiring terminations on the rear of the
ADSL faceplate.

If ANY of the extension sockets have components mounted in them they are
Master Sockets not secondary. You dont need to physically change the
sockets, just snip the components out.
Remove the capacitor and resistor (if fitted). The third thing you might
find in there is a surge protector about 8mm in diameter and about 8mm
thick. You can leave that in there to give you additional protection
against
surges.

Just to clarify.. the ONLY things that you should expect to find in a
secondary socket are the punchdown terminals and the socket itself.
