If you have the standard 128Mb SD card you may want to delete some of the
unused voice files (they're are some of the .chk files) to free enough
space
to bung POIS on it.
Alternativeley just copying the card contents to a larger card is said to
work

I agree with Patrick about mounting it next to the mirror - it was
essential
on my car as it has one of the heat reflecting windscreens and only has a
small "clear" area of screen around the mirror. On my car it
works well
enough to avoid the need for a re-radiating antenna or external antenna so
I'm well pleased. Now I just need to go off and grab/install the new code!!

Depending on the car, it may be possible to solve   the sunlight issue by
mounting it close to the headlining. Adjacent
and to the right of the rear view mirror has worked well for me on
right-hand drive vehicles. YMMV as ever.
