Most (all?) wireless devices have two antennas.  Most of these use both
antennas for transmit and receive (although there are a few exceptions).  A
few are able to implement diversity, which means that they can use one
antenna for receive, and one for transmit.  You say what's the point of
this?  Well, if you're setting up a link between two places, and have a big
gain receive-only antenna at each end and a low gain transmit antenna, you
can be using 20dB transmit power (the legal limit), yet still achieving
huge distances.
