[ot] dvd formats

Hi,

I know there is much controversy about which dvd format is best for
video, but is there any difference between them for storing data? I
thought that dvd+r and dvd-ram had extra error correction but I've
searched and I cannot find any details. I guess dvd-ram would be the
best but if a dvd-ram drive is not available is dvd-r or dvd+r best
for back-ups?
