When I did my Tivo upgrade I pulled all hard disks out of the PC and then
put in only the Tivo drive - Just in case I slipped with setting to boot
from CDROM and XP booted.

I would stick the Tivo drive in your XP machine as the ONLY drive and see
what happens then.

No, other disks work fine.  The PC is used as a server now, so there's
usually a couple of 20 Gb drives on IDE channel 2.

(I didn't want to try the Tivo drive on my new main PC which is running XP,
as I had a suspicion it would do something weird to the drive - as
confirmed
by Lee.)
