Chris,

The only issue I'd check for is that all cores are fully/properly marked.
T=
he Philex cable I bought from www.tlc-direct.co.uk and the (mfr. name
escap=
es me) cable I bought from Screwfix both have the green/blue/orange/brown
s=
tripes on the "minor" core or 2nd cable in the pair i.e.
ORANGE/white + WHI=
TE/orange.=20

Some of the stuff I'd had at work which is labelled "AT&T-I
Systimax 1061C"=
is coloured ORANGE for one core and WHITE for the other half of the pair. =
It's the same for the other pairs too, so I have a total of four cores
colo=
ured GREEN, BLUE, ORANGE & BROWN and their respective paired cores are
colo=
ured WHITE, WHITE, WHITE & WHITE. It's bl**dy confusing !

To be fair it's not too bad for punching down, but for crimping on plugs
it=
*is* a nightmare. I ended up marking the white cores with CD pens to disti=
nguish between them.

Just something to watch for.

Oh, and another thing. The box the Philex cable came in was far superior
to=
the Screwfix cable box. Much stronger and more supportive for the cable in=
side. But, TBH, does it really make a difference ?

HTH,

Tim H.
