This is a good unit - uses a single 12c508 pic chip and 4 of the=20
DS1820 sensors. Ive been using one under both windows ( direct serial=20
port ) and linux via a Lantronix terminal server for over 2 years. I=20
extended the cables ( 2 direct cables and 2 extended over cat5 ) to=20
put them in various rooms.
Ive had no problems at all.
Just to mention that I have 3 of those maplin LCD temperature mobiles=20
running reliably into a pic 16f84 using some homebrew code to provide=20
me with rs232 data in an identical format to that output by the=20
quasar unit. The code is a bit messy but unchanged in the last 6=20
months.
( Must document this little project - piccies, website, pages, and=20
all the other automation Ive written myself. )
If anyone wants a copy of the circuit diagram and the source code=20
drop me a line and I can sort one out.
Cheers - Graeme
