Ooh!  Intreresting development.  I quite fancy one as the front end in my
front room (can't afford a plasma/lcd until after the wedding), so that'd
be a killer feature.

ROFL!  Sounds like Xlobby is ideal for you - able to integrate with
virtually everything, skinnable in every way, and has a Windows and PDA
client.  Naturally, it's got zoning support too.  I really do sound like an
Xlobby evangelist, I know that.  It just happens to solve a lot of issues. 
People say it's a steep learning curve, but I found it dead easy - install
Windows, install Xlobby, then latest update, then players (WinAmp, etc.),
and run the configuration tool.  That's it!
