I know what I said - as you can clearly see if you read it again, my issue
was one of the presence of a TV, not the supposed hassle of turning one on.

Despite the subject, most of this thread has been about interface and
control, not Windows Media Center per se; whether menus are better
displayed on the TV vs built in lcd monitors or 4 line displays, for
example. My post was in that same vein - about my preference for a hand
held tablet. That kind of controller could easily be a common solution for
use around the house - even if the playback devices in each room are
different.
