linux dilema

I am in a shall I shall I not situation.I am changing to linux at node0 BUT
I do have my mickeysoft exchange server and workstation which i need to
keep for a while. I have had a play with linux on my laptop after seeing
its reliability in the well trusted Tivo. Now firstly I want to change my
filesvr to linux (redhat9). I havea spare amdK7 with 128mb ram (will that
be ok for the job). Installation was a doddle, love it. My drives are in a
firewire 4bay recommended on this list a while ago. Now to my dilema. Shall
backup my drives and reformat the drives to native linux journal format or
shall I stick with ntfs which is what they are at present. I know linux
reads ntfs but writing is not recommended due to stability issues. I was
thinking of leaving at ntfs and setting up samba shares. I have googled
around and some ppl have recommended moving to linux format for big files
live video and music. Any pointers/advice would be deeply appreciated. what
is linux like with removeable firewire drives. when i plugge
d it in i could see the drive but it was unable to mount it.
