I've had 5 x 50W mains halogen lamps in my bathroom hanging off an LM12W
(plugless version of the LM12U) for two years without any problems.  IIRC,
halogen lamps aren't electrically any different from normal bulbs.  It's
the
transformers with low-voltage halogens and the fluorescents that cause
problems.
