Hi,
I am doing some rewiring as a result of an extension and would like
to put some cables in place for the day when I finally get a big
plasma or lcd screen and can wall mount it.
I would like to put some cables and face plates in the wall ready
for this, probably hiding them behind a picture or something until I
am ready to put a tv up. To this end I would appreciate any advice
people may have especially on the following questions:
1. What sockets and cables should I be allowing for? (I assume 1x
SCART, 1x power, possibly speaker, even RJ45)?
2. Where can I get long lengths of unterminated scart cable for
connection to scart wall plates?
3. What is the max length a SCART cable can be before signal loss is
an issue?
4. Is there an alternative to using SCART?
5. What if the TV has a seperate receiver? Does that complicate the
wiring?
6. What height should the TV be at?
7. If I choose to use multiroom distribution using say KAT-5, what
implications may there be?
8. Does anyone know an AV wall plate connection supplier that does
brushed steel/chrome plates rather than plain ole white plastic?
9. Is it an idea to run cable in a conduit when chasing in to
prevent any moisture penetration?
10. Are there any issues with interference between AV and power
cables? I guess not as AV/Power live quite happily in my current
spaghetti junction ;-)
Any help on this would be really appreciated!
I have sold my missus on the hardware idea on the basis everything
can be neatly hidden so exposed cables up a wall are not an option ;-
) - oh and neither is building a fake chimney breast to run cables
and mount the TV :-)
Brgds
