I just bought a second hand xbox (50quid) and a xenium chip for =A335. the
chip was soldered into the board as I preferred it this way however they
do offer the solderless version.

Anyway, it was soooooo simple its untrue. If you can build a pc, you can
mod an xbox.

Then I obtained (from the #xbins irc server=85 having never used irc
before that too was a piece of pish) the evolution-x software. However I
found a =91slayer=92s 2.6 cd=92 which contaned media centre and some other
bits (I have it on disc if you would like a copy)

All in all, it=92s a doddle, I also upgraded the hard disk to a 160gb
Maxtor, ripped apart the infrared dongle and mounted that inside the
xbox with port 4 disconnected =96 however the IR bit is optional.

OK, I'm going to buy an x-box.  The main reason for this is to stream

Tivo, although I'd probably play DVD's and games on it from time to

Also, do I have to worry about taking the virgin unit out of the box,

using it before modding? (i.e. does it get updated or anything a'la
Tivo)
