To give you an idea, I got my laptop 3 months ago and it is:

Latitude D600
2.0ghz centrino (new chip - v.fast)
1gb DDR RAM
60GB HDD
1400x1050 14.1" screen
8x dvd-rw
wifi (a, b, g)
bluetooth
gigabit networking
3 years next day on site warranty
3 years accidental damage cover

And it cost =A31,400, which I don't think is too bad.

Thanks for the replies - my mate has gone the Dell outlet route and has
now got a 510m with 512MB RAM, 40GB HDD & onboard wireless - just over
the GBP 700 mark including VAT & delivery.
