The difference with alarms, PIRs etc. is the connections are nearly
always screw terminals, rather than punchdown. If you try to tighten a
screw onto a solid conductor coiled around the terminal you'll risk
breaking the core and getting an unreliable connection.

"Very reliable" . . . except in screw-down terminals
