Splendid "geek bait" and has proved ultra-reliable, but hard work
at
times. I also started when everything was in a state of flux and found
adapting stuff so I could use the latest s/w+tools was always a pain.

Yes, same problem for me. I've ordered a USB adaptor as a sample (thanks
, folks!) and will try out a few things on a separate system. Assuming
the Python classes work OK, it shouldn't take me too long to adapt
things.
