Steve,

How much is "a lot of money" ? You should be able to get a
reasonable
electronic programmer for under 40 quid, e.g.
http://www.screwfix.com/app/sfd/cat/pro.jsp?id=63760&ts=63211
is GBP
33.99, I'm sure there's cheaper and I *know* there's more expensive...
(part # 63760 if the Screwfix site is down...again)

You may want to get a basic programmer fitted and install a bypass
switch so you can revert to normal time control if your HA system goes
t..s-up.com, or if you want to sell your house etc.

Ian Lowe wrote an excellent "how to" for just CH & DHW
control, see it
in the faq at:
http://www.automatedhome.co.uk/faq/index.php?sid=36219&aktion=artikel&ru
brik=002&id=9&lang=en
But please check this is suitable for your application before proceeding
!

There are also other solutions listed, see:
http://www.automatedhome.co.uk/faq/index.php?sid=36219&aktion=anzeigen&r
ubrik=002

If one of the above solutions doesn't suit, you could always have the
X10 module switch a relay, and interface the relay contact to the boiler
control circuit. You'd need to study the circuit diagram carefully etc.
etc.

All that said, I'm not a qualified electrician, and you should consult
one if you're in any doubt as to what to do / how to do it etc. etc.

HTH,

Tim H.
