Not wacky at all. Absolutely something that I intend to do (in my case
to the garage rather than the summer house.)

I've seen a couple of places that have underground passages connecting
to outbuildings, and I like them very much. However, they were
"big"
places.

One is Uppark in West Sussex (now a National Trust place), the other
is Montebello in Canada (now run by Intrawest, I think, as a hotel.)
