Hello Ake,

It sounds like your projects overlap with a couple already going here
with very similar objectives. You might want to take a look at xAP.
Like your project, it is aimed at providing ubiquitous control of low
power embedded devices and upwards to PCs. It is network media
independent - running over narrowband RF, RS232, RS485, ethernet and
802.11b. Like your project, this is an opensource initiative, and has
been adopted by a number of commercial developers. Take a look - you
might find it interesting. You can find out more at
www.xapautomation.org. There is also a dedicated Yahoo mailing list
for the same.

(PS. In the interests of balance, I should also mention that the xAP
group splintered a while back, and a group called xpl spun off -
although being heavily involved in xAP, I have little more to say
about this).
