RE: UPS batteries again
After recently acquiring an APC Smart UPS 1400 with dead batteries, I
googled and was appalled at the price of replacements (> 100).
However, in the same skip (damn, I've given it away) I found a couple of HP
PowerChutes - seriously big UPS's. Too damn heavy to lift. However,
between them I managed to remove the 40 6V sealed lead-acid batteries. Me
thought... enough to make DC mains <g>
Four of these wired in series (to give 24V) fit nicely inside the APC UPS
and, whilst capacity might be slightly less than the true OEM replacement,
it certainly works for me.
You're most welcome to relieve me of a spare few for your purposes. Only
trouble is you'd need to collect them - can't imagine they'd post too well.
I'm based in south-Essex (home) & mid-Essex (work)...?

Subject: [ukha_d] UPS batteries again
My main UPS (APC Smart UPS 1400) has just started reporting an imminent
battery failure :-(
I know there was some talk a while ago about a good supplier (cheap) for
replacement batteries. Can anyone remember what the details were?
Ta,
Paul.
