The solder ones really are very easy these days.
If you go for the "header install" theres a bit if very easy
soldering for
the "header" part (row of dual pins - similair to those used for
serial
ports/usb extensions etc on motherboards) and then the "d0"
point. This is a
fine wire and small soldering point, but really nothing to put you off.
Even the non-solder ones are supposed to be very reliable now.
The ability to flick a switch and disable the chip and revert to a
"virgin"
xbox is quite comforting initially.

There's always the non-soldered Xecutor- done a few - works a treat (on
laters xboxes def.)

Hehehehe.... I could do that, but I'm thinking about trying the no
solder one, and will probably need to give in and re-do it with the
solder one a week or so later ;->.... (the last time I soldered
anything was a chip on my PS1 so that was.... maybe 6 or 7 years ago!) I
saw the classic version used in Game for 10 or 12 quid.

Yeah, so ftp to modded xbox, copy to mem card, put mem card in virgin
xbox, copy to hd, then do jiggery pokery ;->
