Many USA (and thus Canadian) cars have integrated door opener
controls, and dammed convenient it is too.  They are also usually
programmable for more than one door.

But yes, you cant use or get them over here.

I'd rip out the electronics behind the buttons, and install a gutted
UK door opener.  So it looks and works the same, but is legal and
(more importantly) you can get a garage door mechanism its
compatible with :-)

On the cars I've hired with the facility, most of them have had the
control above the windscreen, in the pod with the interior lights,
(and on the WIndstar, where the in car computer is!) so access and
hackability is thus relatively easy.
