Re: OT : Keeping the kid safe...

Hiyall
You /can/ go to google preferences to alter what gets returned on all
google searches. The default is to 'Use moderate filtering' which is
for, as it classes, 'explicit images' only. Why they dont by default use
strict filtering - well dunno. The only thing with that is its quite
easy to remove restriction by clearing your cookies - your then back to
defaults again. Oh and theres nothing to stop you getting to the
preferences and altering what you want to return.

IE allows you to filter on types of content - the only trouble with this
is that the method used relies on web masters rating their sites. You
/could/ stop IE visiting unrated sites - but from my trials - that
knocks out things like the CBBC's and things that are supposed to be
kids friendly. :-/

I'm now using Norton Internet Security Suit - which includes the ability
to set different filters based on the Windows account you have logged in
with and also keeps uptodate with its 'central list'. This is a
subscription based filter -but lucky I had a 90 day trial with the mobo :)

All good fun :)
Wayne.
