Alternative is Ethereal, which comes with most (if not all) linux
distributions.

Hate linux? - there is a windows port.

I use v0.7.3 all the time, and it is rock solid.  Haven't tried v2
yet.  Unlike many linux to windows ports, this looks like a windows
application, its UI is different to the linux version.
