Yep.

Retail DVD kit will turn a non-chipped xbox into R2 Player with remote
control.

There is DVD s/w available to allow a chipped Xbox to play any region DVD
(and doesnt require the kit above - unless you want the remote....)

Right, so that would let me turn my new one into probably a region 2
only player.

Hmmmmmm.... so I should be able to use the current xbox as a multi
region player...... cool, will experiment with that tonight. :)
