RE: Floor lifts for Plasma screens
I have seen something similar in a different environment, where it was hand
operated and carefully counter balanced. Kind of sash window in style, if
you know what I mean.
It was a custom build in a very very posh office in a wee place near
Dartmouth.=20
It was years ago though and in this case the thing being lifted was a
bookcase full of leather bound (Posh) books which rose to reveal a big
tell=
y
behind the recess. (I always wondered what would happen if you took half
th=
e
books off!)
The entire room was panelled (Like your lounge Kevin.) and the result was
stunning.=20
A GOOD furniture manufacturer/craftsman could come up with something and
probably would cost less than any fandangled electronic gizmo, but still
lots of money.
My Node Zero rack cost me =A31500 for design and build and that=92s VERY
ba=
sic.

Subject: [ukha_d] Floor lifts for Plasma screens
My plasma screen is in a bay window - unfortunate but it is really the only
place for it. However it obscures a lot of light from the room when not in
use. So ideally I would like this to descend to floor level (or below even)
using a lift mechanism. At floor level I would conceal it in a small narrow
chest I guess, but I worry about the traditional TV scissor type designs.
I think something side/rear attached to the screen is probably better. I
ha=
d
considered a screw threaded rack/pinion (wrong terms but you may know what
=
I
mean) mechanical lift with some form of motor below the floor which rotates
the threads on each side of the screen and it rises. I even thought of
wire=
s
and a pulley arrangement but the thought of them becoming detached sends
shivers down the spine. Even a balanced hand operated system would do.
Does anyone know of a company making such lift options for plasmas - no
doubt they are horrendously expensive...
