Office Mp3 streaming

Just had an idea .. that I think should be possible but not sure where to
start so I thought I might run it by you guys first before I make a fool of
myself!

Everyone in my office complains that either they can't hear the music or it
is too loud.

We all have new computers in the office with sound cards so I was thinking
of doing the following.

One computer streams music to all the computers and each computer can
output the sound through their own speaker.

Would this work? Or would it kill the network? We are on a 100mbit switch.

So I am looking for a software that would run on the PC. Something nice and
simple at the front end so that people could pick songs and perhaps queue
them up on the playlist through a webbrowser or something.

It needs to be really easy to use.

Is this possible? What should I look at first? Xlobby? Does this do
streaming?
